High voltage battery or all-in-one BESS for commercial storage?
Understand the difference between a DC battery rack and an integrated commercial BESS, then size power and energy for the site.
Identify what the proposal includes
A commercial energy storage proposal can describe very different equipment under the word storage. A DC battery rack holds energy, a power conversion system connects the battery to an AC system, and an integrated BESS combines equipment into a specified configuration. Establish those boundaries before comparing quotations. Ask which battery, PCS, EMS, metering, protection and commissioning items are included. Similar cabinet photographs do not mean that the delivered scope is identical.
A high voltage LiFePO4 battery rack
The Batelithium high voltage LiFePO4 commercial battery system is a DC storage component. Selection requires the entire operating voltage window, the charge and discharge current limits and the BMS integration requirements. Nominal voltage alone is insufficient because battery voltage changes during use. A matching PCS and the project DC protection must be chosen together. Do not treat a battery rack as a complete AC power supply or connect it to an inverter simply because its headline voltage appears suitable.
An all-in-one LiFePO4 BESS
The all-in-one LiFePO4 BESS series lists 50kW, 100kW, 125kW and 215kW options. Those figures describe power choices, not interchangeable battery energy capacities. Request the proposed battery configuration and usable energy alongside the selected kW model. Integration can simplify equipment organisation, but the final project still needs a defined AC connection, monitoring arrangement and protection design. Confirm the equipment and services included in the actual system proposal.
Size kW and kWh separately
Start from a measured load profile. The required kW depends on how much load the system must serve or offset at a given time; the required kWh depends on how long that operation must continue. Charging opportunities, permitted discharge and conversion losses change the energy requirement. A short peak reduction duty and a long backup duty can therefore lead to different configurations at the same site. Keep these duties separate in the technical brief before selecting a cabinet.
Peak shaving and solar self-consumption
Peak shaving means controlling battery power against the site demand profile. Solar self-consumption means retaining more locally generated energy for later use. Both require suitable measurement and a control strategy. Their value depends on the actual site and operating arrangement, so a generic percentage saving is not a sound basis for selecting equipment. For outage support, separately confirm island operation, essential-load circuits and the switching equipment; those functions cannot be inferred from a storage capacity figure.
Prepare the engineering handover
A useful handover includes the single-line diagram, load measurements, battery operating limits, PCS model, BMS/EMS interfaces, equipment layout and maintenance access. Resolve conflicting brochures or parameter tables against the final approved datasheet before ordering. The product links below provide the present Batelithium options for discussion. The external references explain industry terminology and examples; they do not establish cross-brand compatibility or extend a warranty to a particular project.
